The CEA Antibody Reagent (Immunohistochemistry) is a mouse monoclonal antibody (clone CEA31) of the IgG1 kappa isotype. It is intended for the qualitative detection of CEA glycoprotein in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human tissue sections using immunohistochemistry (IHC).
Intended Use
The CEA antibody is designed as an adjunctive diagnostic tool in pathology, with applications including:
1. Diagnosis and Differentiation of Adenocarcinomas
Identifying the origin of various metastatic adenocarcinomas
Distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60–70% are CEA-positive) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA-positive)
2. Gastrointestinal Tumours
Aiding in the diagnosis of colorectal, gastric, oesophageal, pancreatic, and gallbladder carcinomas
Detecting early foci of gastric carcinoma
3. Other Tumours
Ovarian, salivary gland, urachal, and endocervical adenocarcinomas
CEA positivity is seen in adenocarcinomas from the lung, colon, stomach, oesophagus, pancreas, gallbladder, urachus, salivary gland, ovary, and endocervix.
